Cloud9’s CS:GO squad qualifies for ESL One Road to Rio playoffs
Cloud9’s CS:GO squad, with two South African players and a coach, has been doing great, taking a fourth-place finish in Flashpoint Season 1, then qualifying for Dreamhack Masters Spring 2020.
Now, Cloud9’s CS:GO squad have made their way through the gruelling group stage of ESL One: Road to Rio – North America, and qualified for the playoffs.
Cloud9 at ESL One Road to Rio
This is the first qualifying tournament for the ESL One Rio Major scheduled to take place in November. The qualifier tournament has a prize pool of $60,000 for North America. This is roughly R1.1 million at the current Dollar to Rand exchange rate.
Cloud9 have been competingĂ‚Â in the ESL One: Road to Rio – North America group stages, and they clawed and scraped their way to a third-place finish.
In the ESL One: Road to Rio – North America, only the top three teams per group advance to the playoffs, which made for some nailbiting matches to watch.

Cloud9 will compete in the playoffs this week, facing Team Envy, which they previously beat in Dreamhack Masters Spring 2020 qualifiers. This match will take place on 6 May at 22:00 SAST. The tournament comes to an end on 10 May 2020.
