On a weekend that already sees Rush Esports happening in Pretoria, Ekasi Techfest hits Soweto with its own esports smorgasbord. However, to be fair on the Ekasi event, it was announced all the way back in February, so it could be argued Rush is clashing with them. [For the sake of clarity, Rush was announced in May. – Ed]

But clash aside, the Ekasi Techfest has a focus and style of its own. Development is a key focus and alongside the tournaments are panels and talks. The esports is covered by a series of tournaments featuring CS:GO, FIFA 19, Street Fighter V and Tekken 7. The fighting and FIFA each feature a R2,000 cash prize pool, as well as products from MadCatz and Redragon. The tournament participation cap has been reached already, so do not pitch on the day(s) expecting to compete.

The CS:GO tournament is an invitational event with a prize pool of R10,000. White Rabbit Gaming take on Bravado Gaming Finesse in the first semifinal of the tournament. The second semifinal features Ekasi Esports and Omnius Gaming. We have requested the schedule and stream details, but at the time of publishing, they were still outstanding. We will update this information once received.
