Cloud9’s CS:GO squad to compete at DreamHack Open Summer: North America

This coming Saturday, on 8 August 2020, we will once again be able to cheer on Cloud9’s CS:GO squad, featuring two South African players and a coach. Cloud9 will compete at DreamHack Open Summer: North America, against some of the best teams from the region. Here’s what you need to know.

DreamHack Open Summer details

The Dreamhack Open Summer: North America tournament runs from 8 to 16 August, and is sponsored by Corsair, Intel, and Monster Energy.

The tournament will see eight of the best teams in the region competing for their share of $90,000. At the current Dollar to Rand exchange rate, that’s roughly R1.5 million.

The prize pool distribution is:
  • 1st place – $35,000
  • 2nd place – $20,000
  • 3rd place – $10,000
  • 4th place – $7,500
  • 5th & 6th place – $5,000
  • 7th & 8th place – $3,750

During DreamHack Masters Spring 2020, Cloud9 finished in fourth place, winning roughly R170,000 for their effort. Hopefully, we will see the team place even higher in DreamHack Open Summer: North America.

Two teams, Triumph and Ze Pug Godz managed to make their way through the closed qualifiers for the tournament, while an additional six teams, including Cloud9, received direct invites.

The DreamHack Open Summer: North America teams are:
  • Cloud9
  • 100 Thieves
  • Team Liquid
  • Triumph
  • Ze Pug Godz
  • Evil Geniuses
  • FURIA Esports
  • Gen.G Esports

At CS_Summit 6, Cloud9 managed to beat FURIA Esports with a fantastic comeback, and in DreamHack Masters Spring 2020, they lost out to Team Liquid.

It will be interesting to see Cloud9 face off against these teams once again at DreamHack Open Summer: North America.

You can catch all the action live on the official DreamHackcs Twitch.tv channel.
