Cloud9 competing at ESL One: Cologne 2020 Online North America
After a rather disappointing performance at DreamHack Open Summer: North America, Cloud9’s CS:GO squad is competing in yet another big online tournament. For those who don’t know, the Cloud9 squad two South African players and a coach. This is why the team is of particular interest to us, and we follow them through tournaments.
Cloud9 at ESL One: Cologne 2020 Online
ESL One: Cologne 2020 Online North America has a prize pool of $135,000 to fight for. This is roughly R2.3 million at the current Dollar to Rand exchange rate.
On Thursday, Cloud9 played in their first group stage match of the tournament. While it was a relatively close affair, Cloud9 lost 2-1 to Team Liquid. This puts the team on the brink of elimination going into their second match over the weekend.
For those who want to support Cloud9 and their local players, you can watch them live against Triumph on Sunday, 23 August at 22:00 SAST. The match will feature on the official ESL CSGO Twitch.tv channel.
If Cloud9 wins this elimination match, they will go up against the loser of Evil Geniuses and Team Liquid. This final, decider match will take place on 26 August at 22:00 SAST.
Hopefully, we will see Cloud9 triumph over, well, Triumph, and continue by beating the loser of Evil Geniuses and Team Liquid.
If Cloud9 can get out of the group stage, then it will definitely be something for South African CS:GO fans to keep an eye on. The ESL One Cologne 2020 Online North America playoffs begin next week, on 27 August 2020.
