Orlando Pirates adds a Rocket League team
It all happened a little quietly, but Exdee Gaming Rocket League team is now partnered with Orlando Pirates Football Club. This marks the third title to join the established local Premier League team’s esports roster. FIFA 19 was first in 2017, followed by Clash Royale earlier this year.
The Rocket League team will be known as Pirates.Exdee and features three of South Africa’s best players in mOTHER, Snowyy and cpZebra.
Following the initial announcement, it was more recently revealed that two of the players would be heading for a stint overseas. Snowyy and cpZebra will be representing the brand in the United Kingdom for three months, where they will “play, compete, and learn from some of the best in the world.”
Rocket League has been getting a fair amount of local support recently with a number of online and LAN tournaments being hosted by various tournament operators including VS Gaming, ACGL and others. On 29 and 30 June, Raving Mad Gamers are hosting a Rocket League LAN at the Maverick Gaming venue.
