Africa Game-On to be hosted in Togo

Africa is an active continent when it comes to gaming and esports. Just because you don’t see it, doesn’t mean it isn’t happening. There are plenty of organisations across the continent trying to galvanize the communities of their respective countries.

As the year comes to its conclusion, the first Africa Game-On in Togo, West Africa is one such example. The event is the brainchild of three partners: Level UP Gaming Center, Togo Esports and Afrique.it. The two-day event will host a number of tournaments and features a prize pool of 2,500,000 CFA Francs (approximately $4,200).

Fortnite, FIFA 20, PES 2020, Tekken 7, Mortal Kombat 11, CS:GO, League of Legends and NBA 2K20 all feature at the event. Player entry fees range from about $5 to $8, with spectator entry around $1. Entry to the tournaments must be done before 25 December.

The CS:GO tournament will be a ‘Wingman’ competition with an approximate prize pool of $680. League of Legends brings the same prize pool to the table in a 3v3 tournament. FIFA 20 offers a prize pool of around $850, while the remaining titles have at least $340 on the line.

The Africa Game-On event runs on 28 and 29 December 2019 and will be hosted at CanalOlympia Godopé in Lomé, Togo. Additional information can be found on the Facebook event page hosted by Level UP Togo.
