Acer Nitro ASL Minecraft Build Battle announced

From South African tournament organizer African Cyber Gaming League (ACGL) in partnership with ACER For Education and ACER Nitro, there’s an awesome Acer Nitro ASL Minecraft Build Battle event taking place in September. Here’s what you need to know.

Acer Nitro ASL Minecraft Build Battle details

First and foremost, it is important to note that this is an ACGL Schools League (ASL). There’s a prize of R5,000 on the line, which will be awarded to the winning school. There are spots for 64 schools, and only one registration per school is allowed, with up to 5 students per team. To register, an official representative of your school, such as a teacher or coach, must be involved. Head to the registration form and the event’s landing page on ACGL now.

The Acer Nitro ASL Minecraft Build Battle takes place in two phases. There’s a qualification phase (Phase 1) running from 4 to 28 September 2023. Then, there’s Phase 2 (Knockout stage), which will take place in October 2023, with more details to be provided at a later stage. Once registration is complete, ACGL will contact your team to confirm participation time and date.

Below, you can learn more about each phase of competition in the Acer Nitro ASL Minecraft Build Battle as explained by ACGL in their announcement.

Phase 1 details

“On the date of participation, up to four schools will be placed in their respective building sites. At the building site, you will see the topic chosen for your build. Your school will have up to two hours to strategically decide and roll out their build. In qualification, there will be no restrictions on building materials and resources. Once the time is up, the teams will be automatically removed from the server and the judging will begin.

Only one team will progress through to the next stage of the competition, based on their build, and move into Phase 2. Details pertaining to the judging, tutorial of qualification and details surrounding how to get players into the lobby will be given to teams that complete registration and briefing.”

Phase 2 details

“Phase two of the competition will continue in October (after the school break), where we will commence with the knock-out phase of the competition. The builds will become more difficult and the challenges more intense. For now, that’s all the information we giving you. That said, the competition and grand finale are expected to finish by the end of October.”

You can keep up to date with all their announcements by following ACGL on Twitter and Facebook, as well as joining their Discord server.
