Capcom Pro Tour 2022 South African qualifiers open

South African Street Fighter V esports fans have something big to look forward to this year. The Capcom Cup IX is back in 2022. South Africa has a qualifier for the Capcom Cup IX via the regional Capcom Pro Tour 2022 tournament, and registrations are now open!

Capcom Pro Tour 2022 ZA details

First and foremost, you can register for the Capcom Pro Tour 2022 South Africa tournament right now. Registration closes on 22 August 2022, and player pools will be released on 24 August at 16:00 SAST. This is an offline event.

The following steps will assist you on tournament day:

  • Log into your account by 11 AM.
  • Click your profile picture and then choose Tournaments.
  • Choose the CPT event you registered for.
  • Click Event Schedule, then View Event and, look under Your Schedule for bracket assignment.
  • Check the Capcom Events Discord region channel for additional assistance.
  • Orientation & rules will be live at 11 AM on Discord.
  • Tournament starts promptly at 12 PM.

The tournament runs from 27 to 28 August 2022. The top four finalists for the South African qualifier will split a prize pool of $5,000. At the current Dollar to Rand exchange rate, that’s roughly R80,000. After some digging, we’ve found the complete schedule with times and dates for competitors. Check these out below.

Day 1 – Saturday, 27 August
  • 11:00 – Player Orientation
  • Noon – Pools Begin
  • 16:00 – Top 16 Check-In
  • 16:30 – Pre-Show
  • 17:00 – Top 16 Broadcast Stats
Day 2 – Sunday, 28 August
  • 16:00 – Top 8 Check-In
  • 16:30 – Pre-Show
  • 17:00 Top 8 Broadcast Starts

The winner will qualify for the Capcom Cup IX and compete against the world’s top Street Fighter V players. A total of 48 players will compete in the Capcom Cup IX, with one being from South Africa!

The South African qualifier will also be broadcasted on the official Capcom Fighters Twitch channel.
