Brawlhalla’s esports plans for 2022: biggest fighting game prize pool

Brawlhalla, the free-to-play fighting game developed by Blue Mammoth Games and published by Ubisoft, has been around for a very long time. The game is now in its seventh year of esports competition, after all. That, however, does not mean Brawlhalla esports is slowly dying. Instead, developer Blue Mammoth Games has announced that Brawlhalla esports this year will feature the biggest combined fighting game prize pool!

Brawlhalla esports in 2022

In the announcement from Blue Mammoth Games, the developer noted that Brawlhalla esports 2022 will feature a total prize pool of $1,320,000. At the current Dollar to Rand exchange rate, that’s roughly R20 million.

Throughout the 2022 season, there will be four Seasonal Championship tournaments, namely:

  • Omen Oasis Championship
  • Crew Battle Invitational
  • Japan Invitational
  • Midseason Invitational

This will all lead up to the Brawlhalla World Championship 2022, featuring a prize pool of $500,000.

Blue Mammoth Games explains:

“The Brawlhalla Esports 2022 season features a total prize pool of $1,320,000 across all regions. Throughout the season there will be several major championships that are all OPEN-ENTRY: four seasonal championships, several brand-sponsored championships, and the 2022 Brawlhalla World Championship – with the largest fighting game prize pool in the world.

2022 will feature many updates and improvements for competitors and spectators alike. In addition to a total prize pool of OVER ONE MILLION DOLLARS, we are continuing to make major improvements to the tournament stream viewing experience, are introducing many new exclusive viewership rewards, and will be featuring more ‘pro-focused’ invitational events through the year.”

Unfortunately for those in South Africa, there doesn’t appear to be an MEA / Africa regional tournament. Despite this, it is awesome to see a fighting game more than seven years old increasing its efforts in such a manner. Our local tournament organizers do, from time to time, feature Brawlhalla esports events.
