BLAST Premier Spring Groups 2021

The Three Stage Event

Blast Premier’s 2021 tournament schedule kicks off tomorrow. The BLAST Premier Spring Groups 2021 marks the start of the three stage tournament which will be concluded by the BLAST Premier Spring Finals in June. The first stage will feature all 12 of the BLAST partner teams and will see six of them qualify for the Spring Finals, while the other six will be seeded into the Spring Showdown, which is the second stage of the tournament.

Like the previous season, the twelve teams have been split into three groups of four teams per each group. The teams will play in a double elimination bracket to determine the top two and bottom two teams in the group. The top two teams of each group are propelled straight into the final stage of the event, the Spring Finals. The bottom two teams of each group have another chance to reach the Global Finals through the way of the BLAST Premier Showdown.

The level of competition in the first stage will be second to none, as not only are the best five teams in the world going to be present, but the other seven teams also all feature in the current HLTV Top 20. The first stage of the event features a $150,000 prize pool with $50,000 up for grabs per group. The event will feature best of three matches throughout to ensure maximum competition and entertainment.

Considering betting options

I recorded a video for Esports Central to share my thoughts on the opening matches that have been added to Betway esports. In the video I discussed the event at length, analyzed the betting odds on Betway and then compared them to how I perceive the realistic odds of the matches. Using that ‘personal perception’ I decided on what I consider good bets to make after taking both sets of odds into account.

Each match has a number of various betting options, including who will win the match, map handicaps, picking the correct score of the match and betting on whether the match will be over 2.5 maps or under 2.5 maps. In some cases it’s a good idea to explore betting options that are more in depth than just choosing the winner of the match as it offers alternative odds in cases where betting directly on the outcome of the game isn’t as favourable.

Keep in mind you can also make use of multi bets which is a collection of different outcomes that all need to be correct in the end for the bet to be successful. In the case of a multi bet the odds of each selection are multiplied together which substantially increases the return on the bet but also decreases the likelihood of the outcome. When used appropriately they can be a great way of risking a lesser amount of cash for a higher reward.

When and where?

The first stage of the event will be played out online and will run from the 4th of February until the 14th of February with each group being played out over four days as follows:

  • Group A will run from the 4th of February until the 6th of February
  • Group B will run from the 8th of February until the 10th of February
  • Group C will run from the 12th of February until the 14th of February

The matches will be streamed to BLAST’s Twitch and YouTube channels. If you would like to follow my advice, or make some choices of your own, head over to betway.co.za, select the Esports tab, then Counter-Strike and the games will be displayed.

Best of luck and remember to bet responsibly.
