ATK tops ESL Challenger League Season 40 NA Group A

In mid-August 2021, ATK Arena’s CS:GO squad finally travelled to Mexico to embark on their international journey. It’s been a wild ride so far, and we’ve seen some changes to the initial team, with international players joining.

Even so, South Africans Gareth “MisteM” Ries and Rhys “Fadey” Armstrong remain a staple of the team, who has been battling in the ESL Challenger League Season 40 North America group stage, with some excellent results.

Teams have been fighting in the ESL Challenger League Season 40 North America group stage since late January 2022. Now that the group stage is complete, we are excited to report that ATK’s CS:GO squad has topped Group A, only losing one match throughout the season.

The ESL Challenger League Season 40 North America event features a prize pool of $50,000. At the time of writing, that’s roughly R738,000. Arguably the biggest prize is a spot at the ESL Pro Tour Season 16 Conference stage, which the winner of the ESL Challenger League Season 40 North America will get, alongside $20,000 in prize money.

The double-elimination playoffs for the ESL Challenger League Season 40 North America begins on 30 March 2022 with ATK facing Strife Esports in the upper bracket. We would like to wish ATK all the best of luck and we are sure all local CS:GO esports fans will be watching as the South African organization’s squad attempts to win the season, and therefore qualify for the EPL Season 16 Conference stage.
