Top Valorant player in Europe banned for a year

Riot Games is taking cheating in Valorant very seriously, and no one is above the law. That includes the top-ranked player in Europe, who has now been banned for a year following cheating allegations in a ranked match.

Top Valorant player banned

Turkish player Yasin “Nisay” Gök was the number one player on the European ladder in Valorant. That’s before he played a ranked match where he was accused of cheating earlier this month. Since then, Nisay has been removed from the leaderboards.

Nisay plays for BeÅŸiktaÅŸ Esports, and now their squad has received a massive blow. BeÅŸiktaÅŸ Esports has since dropped Nisay from the roster and his contract has been terminated. The Turkish Valorant Pro Tour announced on Twitter that Nisay has also now been banned from official Riot Games tournaments/organizations for a year.

The translated statement reads:

“As a result of the evaluations made by the Riot Games fraud protection team, it was determined that Nisay was cheating in a ranked match and was banned from all official Riot Games organizations for 12 months.”

According to multiple reports, this isn’t the first time Nisay was accused of cheating. While Riot Games’ Vanguard Anti-Cheat system does do a great job, it might not pick up everything. The developer does have plans to further bolster their anti-cheat efforts.

In a response via a TwitLonger post, Nisay asked the developer to provide proof he was cheating: “I personally think I am being wronged, but I cannot do anything against a company like Riot. I request Riot to show me proof of the 3rd party software they detected and that it is cheating.”

At the time of writing, it does not appear as if Nisay had received a response from Riot Games.
