Gauteng Fighting Championship features cash prizes for virtual champs

Centurion will play host to a fighting extravaganza on 29 February. Not only will the fighting be virtual, but it will be a show of MMA and Muay Thai too.

On the ticket page, the 89th Gauteng Fighting Championship (GFC) is described as including “a true Mix of Martial Arts along with the incorporation of one of the largest eGaming Fite Tournaments to be held on South African soil.”

It will feature three fighting game titles, each offering “prize pools of up [to] R5000,” should the 64-player brackets be filled. This of course means the prize pools could be substantially lower if the numbers are not reached.

Competitors keen to battle in Street Fighter V, Mortal Kombat 11 or Tekken 7 will can secure their tickets online or at the door. Early-bird tickets (only available online) are R150 per person. Tickets at the door will be available at R200 per person. The online ticket sales close on 26 February at midnight.
