ACGL launches Midday Cups, extends matchfinders and adds random draw prizes

The African Cyber Gaming League (ACGL) always provides South African gamers with a lot of great cups to enter. In response to the nationwide lockdown, ACGL has further upped their game with a variety of activities, rewarding gamers for staying at home. Let’s take a look at everything ACGL is doing for South African gamers during the lockdown.

ACGL matchfinders & additional titles

First off, matchfinders will now open up at 12:00 and run until 22:00 SAST, giving South African gamers more than enough to keep themselves busy. This means you can search for other players searching around the same time to find an opponent. Players can compete and log their score to be awarded Elo points if they win.

ACGL is also adding matchfinders for FIFA 20 on Xbox One, COD Mobile and COD Warzone. If you are new to the ACGL platform, you can check out a quick guide on their YouTube channel.

Midday Cups

If all the matchfinders aren’t enough to keep you busy, ACGL has also added a new Midday Cup series for players to enjoy. The titles will be rotated daily, with the cups starting at, you guessed it, midday (12:00). Today’s (31 March) Midday Cup is for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

Gamers should keep their eye on the ACGL Twitter account as well as the tournament page to see which cup comes up the next day.

Shoot an Admin

Have you ever wanted to shoot an admin in the face? I think we all have, and that’s where this fun new activity comes into play. ACGL has launched the Shoot an Admin initiative. Basically, an ACGL team member will be teamed up with community members. These members will likely be at a distinct disadvantage, having to carry an ACGL admin through a match.

They will be matched against their fellow ACGL-led community teams, and the player who shoots the most admins each week will be the winner.

The prizes up for grabs

You can win prizes simply by competing in any of the lockdown activities mentioned above. ACGL announced that thanks to local distributor Syntech, a number of brands have joined in to help reward you for staying home. These brands are Redragon, TaoTronics and RAVPower.

Each of the brands has offered three items for ACGL users to win. These prizes will be handed out via a random draw once a week, for three weeks. To get yourself an entry into the weekly draw, you need to compete in the activities mentioned in this article.

  • Shoot an Admin – Depends on the titles offered each week. Winners will be the person shooting the most admins, or a random draw for joining the fun.
  • Midday Cups – Compete in any of the eligible Midday Cups per week and you will be added to the random draw for one of the products up for grabs.
  • Matchfinders - Complete five matchfinder matches in a week and go into a random draw for one of the products up for grabs.

Due to the lockdown restrictions, these prizes will be sent after the lockdown has been lifted.
