ACGL announced the Kick Covid Charity Cup with R5,000 prize pool

With South African currently on lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, most South African gamers have to stay at home. To keep you busy, African Cyber Gaming League (ACGL) already implemented a new Midday Cup, extended matchfinders and more last week. Now, ACGL has announced the Kick Covid Charity Cup, perfect for FIFA 20 players, spectators, or those who just want to support charity.

About Kick Covid Charity Cup

ACGL has partnered up with Grant Hinds, Simon Orgill and ViNCO Gaming to create the Kick Covid Charity Cup. This cup is for FIFA 20 (on PS4) and it features an R5,000 prize pool. There is an R50 entry fee and proceeds go to supporting Home From Home and The Haven Night Shelter.

The top two players from the qualifiers will go through to the Grand Final on Sunday, 19 April 2020. The first qualifier kicks off on Monday, 13 April 2020 at 12:00 (midday).

ACGL explains how it all works:

“This FIFA 20 series will feature eight qualifiers over four days, with an afternoon and evening qualifier per day. Qualifiers will be capped at 32 players each. Players will be allowed to compete in as many qualifiers as they like but will be required to pay the R50 entry fee per qualifier.

To ensure your entry is covered, you will be required to purchase an R50 competition token via our shop. This will be added to your ACGL account and used when you sign up to compete in one of the qualifiers.”

The prize distribution is as follows:
  • 1st Place: R2,500
  • 2nd Place: R1,500
  • 3rd Place: R1,000

The qualifiers will be single-elimination format and players will need to play with kick-off teams.

The tournament schedule can be viewed below:

You should head on over to the Kick Covid Charity Cup landing page, and follow ACGL on Twitter, Facebook, as well as join their Discord server.

For those who don’t want to participate but still donate to charity, you can do so via the ACGL shop. If the amount available is not what you are looking to donate, you can add an additional amount on checkout too.
