Capcom Cup X for SF6 gets huge prize pool increase
We just saw the most recent Capcom Pro Tour finish up with the Capcom Cup IX, which featured two South African players. During the final broadcast over the weekend, Capcom also announced a huge change to the prize pool for the upcoming Pro Tour featuring Street Fighter 6.
Capcom Pro Tour prize pool increase
Street Fighter 6 releases on 2 June 2023, and with it, the prize pool for the Capcom Pro Tour and the Capcom Cup X will see a massive increase. To put things into perspective, the Capcom Cup IX, which recently completed, featured a total prize pool of $300,000.
The Capcom Pro Tour 2023 will feature a total prize pool of $2 million. The next champion who wins the Capcom Cup X will get a whopping $1 million! That’s an incredible increase, to say the least, and it does show Capcom’s confidence in Street Fighter 6 being the next big thing. Further, and very important for fighting game fans, the Capcom Pro Tour will have online qualifiers. This shows that the developer is extremely confident that Street Fighter 6’s netcode is solid.
The announcement from Capcom reads: “Capcom Cup X will be played on Street Fighter 6, with the winner receiving a whopping $1,000,000! Who wants to be a millionaire?”
At the time of writing, further information about the upcoming Capcom Pro Tour is not readily available. We will, however, keep you updated, especially since there should be ways for South African players to compete.
