League of Legends MSI 2023 viewer’s guide

This month, League of Legends esports fans are in for an absolute treat with the Mid-Season Invitational event. If you don’t want to miss out on any of the top-tier League of Legends action, then we’ve got you covered with our viewer’s guide.

LoL MSI 2023 details

Running from 2 to 21 May 2023, the MSI 2023 event is an offline affair, taking place in London at the Copper Box Arena. It is hosted by Riot Games and features a prize pool of $250,000. At the current Dollar to Rand exchange rate, that’s roughly R4.6 million.

Competing is direct-invite and qualified teams. There are 13 teams total in the MSI 2023 event and two stages of competition. Check out the tournament format and dates for both stages of the event below.

Play-In Stage: 2 to 7 May
  • Double-Elimination bracket
  • All matches are BO3, except for Lower Final, which is BO5.
  • The top 3 teams qualify for the playoffs.
Playoffs Stage: 9 to 14 May / 16 to 21 May
  • The top 3 from Play-In are joined by five direct-invite teams
  • Double-Elimination bracket format
  • All matches in the playoffs are BO5

The direct-invite teams are JD Gaming, Cloud9, Gen.G, MAD Lions and T1. With top-tier League of Legends teams filling the event, there are bound to be a lot of exciting matches.
