ESL One Malaysia 2022 viewer’s guide
Following the PGL Arlington Major, the final Dota 2 esports Major before The International 11, fans have another big tournament to look forward to. Although not part of the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC), the ESL One Malaysia 2022 tournament is still a big one to watch. Here’s what you need to know.
ESL One Malaysia 2022 details
ESL One Malaysia 2022 takes place in Genting Highlands, Malaysia, at the Arena of Stars venue. It runs this week with six days of competition, from Tuesday, 23 August to Sunday, 28 August 2022.
This is a LAN event featuring a total of 12 teams. Seven teams have been directly invited, while five more have qualified from their respective regions, including Europe/CIS, China, Southeast Asia, North America and South America.
The group stage of ESL One Malaysia features two groups of six teams each. All matches are BO2 with a single round-robin format. The top two teams advance to the upper bracket of the ESL One Malaysia playoffs, while the 3rd and 4th place teams advance to the lower bracket. The bottom two are eliminated.

The final eight teams will compete in the ESL One Malaysia 2022 playoffs following the group stage. This stage follows a double-elimination bracket format, with all matches being best-of-three, except for the grand final, which is best-of-five.
Teams will be competing for their share of the $400,000 prize pool. At the current Dollar to Rand exchange rate, that’s roughly R6.6 million. Fans can catch all the action on the ESL_DOTA2 Twitch channel. Matches begin at roughly 06:00 SAST each day.
