Intel Africa Masters Open Qualifier 2 registrations close this week

Back in June 2022, South African tournament organizer Mettlestate partnered with Intel to “revolutionize the face of competitive African esports” with the biggest CS:GO tournament Africa has ever seen. Since then, the first Open Qualifiers for the Intel Africa Masters have been completed across four regions: South Africa, Nigeria, North Africa (Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia), Egypt, and Nigeria.

This week, registrations for the second Open Qualifier get underway, and CS:GO esports teams shouldn’t miss out. Here’s what you need to know.

Intel Africa Masters Open Qualifier 2 details

Registration for the second Open Qualifier for a shot at the Closed Qualifier is now open. Check out the South African Open Qualifier 2 now to register without delay over on FaceIt.

Registration is completely free. The Open Qualifier consists of four groups of 16 teams each, so spots are limited. Teams are seeded based on historical data in each region. The group stage format is double-elimination, best-of-one. The top two teams from each group qualify for the Closed Qualifier in their region.

Intel Africa Masters details:
  • The top 8 teams from each Open Qualifier will progress to Closed Qualifier.
  • Once a team qualifies for the Closed Qualifier, they cannot compete in another Open Qualifier.
  • Once the Closed Qualifiers are complete, the top 8 teams from each region will play in their Regional Final to determine the best team in the region.
  • The top team from each region will then be invited to South Africa to play in the Grand Finals to crown the best team in Africa.

In case you didn’t see the original announcement, the prize pool for the Intel Africa Masters is R450,000. That’s a whole lot of incentive to register and try to make it to the Grand Finals, isn’t it?
