Intel Africa Masters CS:GO finals take place at rAge Expo

Back in June this year, South African tournament organizer Mettlestate partnered with Intel to “revolutionize the face of competitive African esports” with the announcement of Intel Africa Masters as the biggest CS:GO esports event Africa has ever seen. Now, we know where and when the finals of the Intel Africa Masters will take place, and it’s a fitting one.

Intel Africa Masters is a massive and cross-continent tournament. Since early July, the best CS:GO teams from South Africa, Nigeria, North Africa (Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia), Egypt, and Nigeria have been duking it out in Open and then Closed Qualifiers.

While the finals teams have not yet been determined, we now know where the Intel Africa Masters finals will take place, where teams will fight for their share of the massive R450,000 prize pool. Yes, Intel Africa Masters will see its finals take place at rAge 2022. rAge 2022 takes place from 9 to 11 December 2022. It has a new home, the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand.

According to a press relief we’ve received, Michael James, the Project Director of rAge, states: “This is the largest CG:GO cross-continent competition in Africa to date. With a $30 000 prize pool on offer, the competition will be fierce, and we can’t wait to host the finals. It’s going to be awesome getting together again in person watching a live tournament of this calibre, and we look forward to welcoming the teams from across Africa!”

Intel Country Lead for South Africa, Nitesh Doolabh, explains: “Intel is excited to partner with rAge 2022 and look forward to hosting the Intel Africa Masters semi-finals and finals at this year’s event. The tournament provides a platform to get African Gamers out of isolation from their local country bubbles and start competing internationally. The partnership between Intel, rAge & Mettlestate will go a long way towards creating more opportunities for teams and players. By introducing Intel Africa Masters, a potential ‘path to pro’ can be forged.”
