CS_Summit 8 Closed Qualifier: Extra Salt to compete this weekend
Late in April, Extra Salt managed to claim a second-place finish at Funspark ULTI Europe, making their trip to Europe a very successful one. For those who don’t know, we’ve been following the exploits of Extra Salt (with two South African players and a coach) for quite some time now.
The Extra Salt team is now back in America, where they will compete in the first closed qualifier for the first North American CS:GO RMR event, giving teams from the region a shot at qualifying for the Stockholm Major.
CS_Summit 8 Closed Qualifier details
The Closed Qualifier for CS_Summit 8 will run from this Friday, 14 May until next Tuesday, 18 May 2021. There are only a total of eight teams competing, four invited, and four who made their way through the Open Qualifiers for the RMR event.

- Bad News Bears (Invited)
- GODSENT (Invited)
- O Plano
- RBG Esports
- Team One
- Triumph
The CS_Summit 8 Closed Qualifier will feature a double-elimination bracket. All matches are best-of-three. The top four teams will make it to the main event of CS_Summit 8. Since the tournament is taking place in the US, the start of for each day is a bit harsh for us South Africans, as the first match of the day begins at 23:30 SAST. If you can’t catch the matches live, don’t stress, we will cover the results from the qualifier next week.
It’s a massive deal just to make it to an RMR event, and it will be exciting to see how Extra Salt performs if they do manage to qualify. They can be considered one of the favourites to make it through the CS_Summit 8 Closed Qualifier following their great performance at Funspark ULTI Europe.
