blacklaminate wins ESEA Season 42 South Africa

Since August, local CS:GO esports teams have been furiously competing in ESEA Season 42 Main Division South Africa for their share of the $6,650 prize pool. At the current Dollar to Rand exchange rate, that’s roughly R120,000. Over the past weekend, ESEA S42 Main Division South Africa came to a thrilling conclusion.

Both Bravado Gaming and Goliath Gaming managed a 10-1 scoreline during the regular season of ESEA Season 42 South Africa, while blacklaminate and DNMK Esports had a solid 8-3 scoreline. Eight teams made it to the playoffs of ESEA Season 42 South Africa, which began on 21st September 2022.

During the playoffs, however, things changed a bit. blacklaminate managed to beat VYBN with a score of 2-1 and followed this up by knocking Bravado Gaming down to the lower bracket via an impressive reverse sweep. blacklaminate then went on to beat Goliath Gaming 2-0 to make it to the grand final of ESEA Season 42 Main Division South Africa, also securing themselves a one-map advantage.

After being knocked down to the lower bracket, Bravado Gaming clawed their way into the grand final, beating Sssst 2-0, VYBN 2-0, and reverse-sweeping Goliath Gaming with two maps going into overtime.

With a one-map advantage going into the best-of-five grand final, blacklaminate wasted no time shutting down Bravado Gaming. blacklaminate won Mirage 16-12, followed by a 16-8 win on Nuke to secure victory.

Congratulations to blacklaminate for winning ESEA Season 42 Main Division South Africa. They get $3,000 in prize money. Bravado Gaming gets $1,900 for the second-place finish, Goliath Gaming gets $1,000, and VYBN gets $750
