ATK at IEM Road to Rio 2022 American RMR
Featuring South Africans Gareth “â MisteMâ †Ries and Rhys “â Fadeyâ †Armstrong, ATK Arena’s CS:GO squad will be competing at the Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Road to Rio 2022 RMR event for the Americas region starting this week. Here’s what you need to know!
IEM Road to Rio 2022 American RMR
The IEM Road to Rio 2022 American RMR takes place in Sweden this week, from 5 to 9 October 2022. ATK’s squad arrived in Sweden on Monday and is ready to compete for a spot at the IEM Rio Major 2022, one of the biggest CS:GO esports events of the year.
ATK qualified for the IEM Road to Rio 2022 American RMR via the second qualifier early in September. They join 15 other qualified teams, with six spots at the IEM Rio Major 2022 on the line. The first place gets Legend status, while the 2nd and 3rd teams earn Challenger status. Teams placing 4th to 6th get Contender status at the Major, and the rest miss out.
If you don’t know how CS:GO RMR events work, it features a 16-Team Swiss System Format. Below you can get some details on how that system works as per Liquipedia.
- Elimination and Advancement matches are Bo3
- All other matches are Bo1
- The Buchholz system is used to seed matches from Round 3 to 5
- 6th place decider is resolved via a Bo3 single-elimination gauntlet
- 1st place decider is resolved via a Bo3 single-elimination match
