ROG Inferno Cup registrations close soon, R15k on the line

South African tournament organizer Mettlestate, in partnership with ASUS ROG and powered by Intel, has announced the ROG Inferno Cup event, which will run for one month! Registration for this tournament closes soon, so if you have a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, we suggest you join ASAP. Here’s what you need to know.

ROG Inferno Cup details

First and foremost, registration for the ROG Inferno Cup closes on Sunday, 13 August 2023. The group stage will kick off right after registration is finished, and the Playoffs will begin on 11 September 2023.

This is a 4v4 COD Modern Warfare 2 tournament with a huge prize pool of R15,000. The event is open to PC, Xbox, and PlayStation gamers. You can register your team right now by heading to the ROG Inferno Cup registration page. Registration is completely free!

Prize pool distribution:
  • 1st place – R7,000
  • 2nd place – R4,000
  • 3rd place – R2,500
  • 4th place – R1,500

You can check out all the format and schedule details as per Mettlestate’s rule page for the ROG Inferno Cup below.

  • Registrations for the group stages open the 31st of July 2023 and close the 13th of August 2023.
  • Group stages will be played between the 14th of August until the 10th of September.
  • All participants will be placed into one group.
  • All Participants will schedule their matches via the allocated WhatsApp group for the league.
  • All matches will be played as a best-of-three.
  • Top 2 from each group will advance.
  • For game settings, please refer to the “Game Settings” below.
  • Playoffs will commence for qualifying participants on the 11th of September and last till the 23rd of September.
  • The top 2 participants from each group will be promoted to the playoffs.
  • Qualifying participants will be placed into a single-elimination bracket
  • Each bracket will play a best-of-three to determine which participant proceeds through to the next round.
  • Participants will play up until the final round to determine who proceeds to the grand finals.
  • Grand finals will be on 30h of September 2023.
  • The final two participants will play best-of-five matches
  • The top two teams will be flown to Johannesburg to compete on LAN.
  • The grand finals will be streamed to Twitch and potentially more platforms.
  • At the end of the best-of-five, the participant with 3 match wins will be crowned the grand champions.
