Carry1st Africa Cup: Your path to CODM World Championship 2025

Back in April, we shared some exciting news with Call of Duty (COD) esports fans: The massive COD Mobile World Championship 2025 event will have African qualifiers! Now, we know much more, with the Carry1st Africa Cup officially unveiled. Here’s what you definitely need to know!

Carry1st Africa Cup details

With over 200 teams and over 1,000 players, the event is a big deal. Activision has officially organized the Carry1st Africa Cup as a qualifying tournament for the Call of Duty: Mobile World Championship 2025, which means “unlocking a direct route for African talent to compete internationally at the biggest stage.”

Teams are competing for a spot in the LAN Grand Finals. There are eight qualifying events in total, running from May to August. You can sign up for the South African qualifier today. The event runs from 20 June to 13 July 2025.

There are eight qualifiers, depending on where you hail from in Africa, so check out the official Carry1st Africa Cup 2025 page for more details.

The LAN Grand Finals will take place on the weekend of 30 and 31 August 2025, where qualified teams will compete for their share of the $15,000 prize pool and a chance to represent the entire African continent at the Call of Duty: Mobile World Championship 2025. The LAN Grand Finals is set to take place in the city of Lagos, Nigeria!

The VP of Growth at Carry1st, Guillaume Noé, shared in the excitement, as per a Press Release we’ve received:

We are excited to announce the return of Call of Duty: Mobile as part of our Carry1st Africa Cup this year. Last year was incredible and showed us what this continent’s talent can do when given the right platform. Now we’re raising the stakes with more players and more regions. For the first time, our tournament has also been recognised by Activision as a qualifier for the Call of Duty: Mobile World Championship 2025, meaning that gamers aren’t just playing for home pride; they’re also competing for the chance to play against the world’s best.

Good luck to everyone who enters, and have fun!
