Doritos Crunch Cup Series at Comic Con Africa

The “Coolest Snack brand in South Africa”, Doritos, entered the local esports scene back in April 2022 with the first Crunch Cup series of tournaments, specifically for Fortnite. Now, Comic Con Africa and Doritos have joined forces once again to bring gamers and esports fans attending Comic Con Africa some great tournaments. Here’s what you need to know about the series of tournaments, not just for Fortnite this time around.

Doritos Crunch Cup Series details

Each day of Comic Con Africa, from 22 to 25 September 2022, there will be a Doritos Crunch Cup Series event taking place. Every tournament in the series features a prize pool of R4,000, and it is completely free to enter.

People Comic Con Africa can simply head to the Doritos Crunch Zone. It is located in the Gaming Hall. Registration starts at 09:00 SAST each day. The first 96 people to sign up secure their spot at the tournament each day. A guardian must be present for those between the ages of 13 and 18. Those under 13 years of age cannot compete.

The first match of each tournament will begin at 10:45 SAST. All four tournaments will be played on PS4 consoles. They all feature a single-elimination bracket format, and all of them are 1v1, so you don’t have to go looking for teammates.

The events are:
  • Thursday 22 September 2022 – Fortnite
  • Friday 23 September 2022 – Tekken 7
  • Saturday 24 September 2022 – Street Fighter V
  • Sunday 25 September 2022 – FIFA22

Thought that was all? Think again! Each day there will also be a pro showdown event between 12:45 and 13:45. During the pro showdown, fans can take up the challenge of trying to beat a pro and could win R1,000 in the process. Check out the pros fans can expect to face for each tournament below.
