At the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai, China, over the past weekend, Valorant esports fans were treated to the conclusion of the VCT 2024 Masters Shanghai event, with incredibly exciting final matches leading to a close grand finale. Gen.G Esports kicked off their playoffs bracket run at the VCT 2024 Masters Shanghai event with a very close call against Fnatic, having to reverse-sweep Fnatic for a 2-1 win. Gen.G Esports then moved on to beat 100 Thieves and G2 Esports with 2-0 scorelines, securing their spot in the grand final of VCT 2024 Masters Shanghai.

After beating Chinese side EDward Gaming 2-0, Team Heretics ran into some issues, losing to G2 Esports reverse sweep and getting knocked down to the lower bracket. From here, Team Heretics made a magnificent lower bracket run, beating FUT Esports 2-0, 100 Thieves 2-0, and then took revenge on G2 Esports with a 3-0 clean sweep to make it to the grand final.

In the grand final of VCT 2024 Masters Shanghai, we saw Gen.G Esports and Team Heretics throw down in one of the closest finals to date. Gen.G Esports won the first map, and Team Heretics responded with winning to maps in a row. However, Gen.G Esports didn’t give up and won the final two maps to claim the VCT 2024 Masters Shanghai trophy!

  • 1st place: Gen.G Esports wins $350,000.
  • 2nd place: Team Heretics wins $200,000.
  • 3rd place: G2 Esports wins $125,000.
  • 4th place: 100 Thieves wins $75,000.
  • 5th to 6th place: Paper Rex and FUT Esports win $50,000 each.
  • 7th & 8th place: EDward Gaming and Fnatic win $35,000 each.
  • 9th & 10th place: FunPlus Phoenix and Leviatán win $25,000 each.
  • 11th & 12th place: Dragon Ranger Gaming and T1 win $15,000 each.
