RLCS 2025 Sub-Saharan Africa Open 2 results
The Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) Sub-Saharan Africa Open events just keep on giving, with nice big prize pools for the region $24,900 (roughly R460,000) per tournament, and after three of these, a spot at the Birmingham Major on the line. In the first RLCS 2025 SSA Open, we saw Limitless, a team filled with South African players, finish 2nd. Could they do better in Open 2? Let’s find out!
RLCS 2025 SSA final results
Limitless used to completely dominate the RLCS SSA region, making it to multiple international events as a result of claiming the top spot. At the RLCS 2025 SSA Open 1, however, they ended 2nd, getting 4-0’ed in the grand finale by Spanish side Maestros Del Esférico. I’m not sure how Spain is considered SSA, combined with the fact that other players from that area compete in Europe…but okay.
In any case, Limitless made it through the group stage with ease and in the playoffs, beat down CosmiCo Esports with a 4-2 and Hey (with rizz) with a 4-3 to make it to the grand finale. Just like last time, Maestros Del Esférico made it to the grand finale as well, beating Hey (with rizz) with a 4-3 and then CosmiCo Esports with a 4-0 clean sweep.
In the grand finale of the RLCS 2025 SSA Open 2, Limitless came out swinging to win the first game, but Maestros Del Esférico bounced back with vigor to win the next three. Limitless responded with another win before Maestros Del Esférico closed it out 4-2 to win the tournament and the lion’s share of the prize pool at $4,800.
Limitless limps away with $2,700 and 10 RLCS points. At the time of writing, only Maestros Del Esférico and Limitless are still in contention for a spot at the Birmingham Major, with Maestros Del Esférico on 30 points and Limitless on 20 points. The South African team, despite being the best in the actual region, needs a bit of a miracle in the upcoming RLCS 2025 SSA Open 3 to make it through.
