Are you up for some more awesome Rocket League esports action? Featuring the best teams from the region, filled with South African players. Here’s what you need to know.

RLCS 2022-23 SSA Winter Cup details

This weekend, from 10 to 12 February 2023, the RLCS 2022-2023 SSA Winter Cup’s main event will take place, with 16 teams qualified via RLCS points, as well as those who’ve gotten through the Open and then Closed qualifiers.

We will first see a group stage where the 16 teams competing are split into four groups of four. This stage features a Round Robin format, where all matches are best-of-five. The winner of each group advances to the Quarterfinals of the playoffs, while 2nd and 3rd-place finishers in each group qualify for Round 1o of the playoffs, and the 4th-placed teams are eliminated. The playoffs will feature a single-elimination bracket format. The Round 1 matches of the playoffs are best-of-five, while the rest are best-of-seven slugfests.

Teams are competing for their share of the $20,000 prize pool. At the current Dollar to Rand exchange rate, that’s roughly R350,000.

The teams competing:
  • Limitless
  • Orlando Pirates Exdee
  • Nixuh
  • White Rabbit Gaming
  • ATK
  • SRZ
  • Unity
  • Team Espionage
  • Red Crown Esports
  • AIPX Gaming
  • ICE Esports
  • Team Fusion
  • Astronic Esports
  • Nkosi Ballers
  • Fuzion Esport
  • Realms

Having won several of these events in a row now, Limitless, previously known as May Contain Nuts, is by far the team to beat. We can’t help but wonder if someone can take this squad filled with South African players down this time around.
