RLCS 2022-23 SSA Spring Open results
The Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) for Sub-Saharan Africa, RLCS 2022-2023 SSA, is now in the Spring Series, and over the past weekend, 16 of Sub-Sahara’s top teams competed in the Spring Open. Here’s what went down during this awesome event.
Spring Open results
16 teams completed over the weekend of 12 to 14 May 2023 for their share of the $20,000 prize pool. At the current Dollar to Rand exchange rate, that’s roughly R380,000.
We saw the exciting double-elimination bracket for the RLCS 2022-23 SSA Spring Open take place, with some upsets. For example, Nixuh, who won the RLCS 2022-23 SSA Winter Invitational, got knocked out early, first losing to Nkosi Ballers 3-0, then to Astronic Esports in a reverse sweep that ended 3-2.
The dominating force in the RLCS SSA region so far, Limitless (previously known as May Contain Nuts), showed that they didn’t lose any form from previous seasons. Limitless made quick work of Monarch Realm with a 3-0 win, followed by a 3-1 win against Red Crown Esports, and a 4-0 win against AIPX Gaming
After losing the first map against French Class in the upper bracket final, Limitless shifted into another gear, and ended up beating French Class 4-2. French Class then made it into the grand final by defeating White Rabbit Gaming 4-1. However, Limitless couldn’t be stopped, beating French Class 4-0 in the grand final of the RLCS SSA Spring Open.
For those unaware, Limitless features three South African players and a United States coach. Check out their roster below.
- David “2Die4†Morgenrood
- Gareth “Snowyy†Spiers
- Ethan “Darth.†Deysel
- Aaron “Noxes†Cadiz (Coach)
