Largest esports match attendance world record broken

According to Guinness World Records, the world record for the largest attendance of an esports match was set back in 2016 with the PES 2016 UEFA Euro 2016 event in Paris, at 45,000. That record stood for nearly a decade before it was broken in November 2025.

New Guinness World Record for esports

IEM Chengdu 2025 and LoL Worlds 2025 took place this past weekend. However, the Guinness World Record for the largest live attendance for an esports tournament wasn’t set by either of these events.

Instead, it was the Grand Final of the Honor of Kings King Pro League between All Gamers (AL) Super Play and Wolves Esports that took the crown. The Grand Finals match took place on 8 November 2025 at the Beijing National Stadium (Bird’s Nest) in China. This venue was built for the soccer world cup, with a massive capacity.

As announced on the official Honor of Kings social media, the record-breaking live attendance for the Grand Final of the 2025 KPL was 62,196. The developer said:

We did it! The 2025 KPL Grand Finals Championship Match has attempted the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ Title for the Largest Attendance for an Esports Match!

That’s a massive achievement for developer TiMi Studios, and a testament to how significant the game is in China.

In case you didn’t know, Honor of Kings is roughly 10 years old already in China. It’s a mobile MOBA title, which also released worldwide last year. Congratulations!
