LoL Worlds 2024 viewer’s guide

This week, on 25 September 2024, the wait for League of Legends (LoL) esports fans is finally over. Yes, the LoL World Championship, often called just “LoL Worlds,” will begin and run through the entire month of October. Here’s what you need to know so you don’t miss out on any of the action.

LoL Worlds 2024 details

In case you didn’t realize, LoL Worlds 2024 is this year’s crowning event, and it’s absolutely massive. We expect records to be broken, including viewership numbers. The tournament runs from 25 September until 2 November 2024 and features three different venues across the globe. Yes, that’s quite crazy.

There are 20 teams competing for their share of the $2,225,000 prize pool. At the current Dollar/Rand exchange rate, that’s roughly R39 million. It all begins with the Play-In stage, where the top four teams advance to the Swiss Stage. In the Swiss Stage, 16 teams will compete for only eight spots in the Playoffs. We will see the remaining eight teams in the playoffs compete in best-of-five matches until only one survives.

The grand finale will be held at the O2 Arena in London, while the semifinals and quarterfinals will be held at the Adidas Arena in Paris. If you are like me, you won’t be making it to the event live, but you can watch all the action from the comfort of your own home.

Watch the LoL Worlds action via the Riot Games Twitch channel, and catch up on matches via the LoL Esports YouTube channel. For more information, head on over to the official LoL Esports website.

Can T1 defend their title, or will a new champion rise to the occasion? We can’t wait to find out, and we’ll bring you all the full results and highlights when LoL Worlds 2024 ends.
