ULSAN wins Tekken 8 EWC 2025 to become two-time champ
In 2024, Freecs’ Lim “ULSAN” Soo-hoon stunned the fighting game community at the EWC, beating Team Falcons’ Atif “Atif Butt” Ijaz in the Grand Final. It was an incredible feat of resilience and skill, one that few could have predicted.
You know what’s even more unpredictable? Doing it twice in a row! That’s precisely what the South Korean superstar did in Saudi Arabia last week, from 13 to 16 August 2025, when competing in the Esports World Cup 2025 event.
With 32 of the best players competing, the competition was daunting. However, ULSAN proved incredibly strong in the first phase, topping Group E. In the second phase, ULSAN narrowly made it through Group C to claim a spot in the Playoffs Stage.
Playing as Dragunov, ULSAN got off to a fantastic start in the Playoffs Stage, beating PINYA 5-1 and then CBM 5-3 to make it to the Grand Final. On the other side of the bracket, it was Yoon “LowHigh” Sun-woong using fighter Bryan who beat chikurin 5-1 and JeonDDing 5-2 to make it to the Grand Final.
In the Grand Final of EWC 2025 Tekken 8, ULSAN won the first two fights. While LowHigh recovered in the next two fights to tie up the score 2-2, ULSAN stopped the bleeding and won the next three in a row for a 5-2 victory, thereby claiming the crown and becoming a two-time EWC Tekken champion. Congratulations!
