First Tekken 8 champion, World Tour 2025 and new content confirmed
The inaugural Tekken World Tour Finals for Tekken 8 took place earlier in December 2024 in Shibuya, Tokyo, where Bandai Namco was crowned the game’s first world champion. During the event, the developers also teased the future of Tekken 8 and officially confirmed Tekken World Tour 2025.
Tekken World Tour 2024 Champion
There were 37 of the best players in the world competing at the Tekken World Tour 2024 Finals for their share of the $300,000 prize pool. After an exhilarating three days of action in December 2024, we saw the grand final between Jeong “Rangchu” Hyeon-ho and Atif “Atif Butt” Ijaz take place in front of a cheering crowd.
After an intense grand finale, which ended 3-1 in favor of Rangchu, the South Korean fighting game star became Tekken 8’s First King of Iron Fist and the first two-time TEKKEN World Tour Champion in history.
Tekken 8 Esports & Content Plans
Bandai Namco officially revealed that the Tekken World Tour 2025 series is a thing and that we can look forward to the Tekken World Tour Finals 2025 at the end of next year. The developers, however, didn’t provide much in the form of official details, only confirming that 2025 will be filled with Tekken 8 esports. Stay tuned to the official Tekken World Tour website for updates.
In terms of content, well, it’s super exciting. Tekken 8 will get Photo Mode, a Player Search function allowing us to locate players with their Tekken ID, bonus levels to the fight pass, more rewards, new characters, and much more! Check out the trailer below.
