Doritos Crunch Cup at Comic Con Africa this weekend
Do you want to “Unlock bold gaming?” Well, then you’ll have to attend Comic Con Africa, which, for those who don’t know, is taking place in Johannesburg this weekend, from 28 to 31 August 2025 at the Expo Centre. Here, you’ll find the Doritos Crunch Arena, perfect for any and all gamers, but especially for those who also like snacks…
At the Doritos Crunch Arena, there’s a ton of things to do. It’s “where gaming meets attitude on the Comic Con Africa floor,” an experience built for fans. There’s a Tekken 8 tournament (Doritos Crunch Cup) with leaderboards and a chance at winning cash prizes, and a bunch of titles that are free-to-play if you are looking for something a bit more casual.
Gamers can also find and scan Doritos QR Codes hidden on the show floor, which can unlock bonus content. You’ll also have a chance to win a PlayStation 5. Yup, that’s right, it’s a big one!
Doritos Crunch Cup details
The Doritos Crunch Cup is a king-of-the-hill-inspired tournament where your goal is to stay on top of the leaderboard, beating others in Tekken 8.
“The Crunch Cup will begin with two players – the winner stays in their seat to build up a FLAMIN’ HOT STREAK, while the loser leaves to make way for a new contender.”
There are two daily sessions, with the following start and end times:
- Session 1: 11:00 – 13:30 (Registrations open on the day from 09:00 – 10:45)
- Session 2: 15:00 – 17:30 (Registrations open throughout the day and close at 14:45)
Best of all, at the end of each session, the gamers with the highest win streak will win their share of R10,000 in cash prizes.
Apart from the aforementioned free-to-play area, there’s also the Retro Arcade Corner to check out. Last but not least, depending on who you ask, the Doritos Loaded Food Truck is available for attendees to check out and possibly grab a bite from their specialized menu.
