Dota 2 Singapore Major: How to watch, schedule, format and teams

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, we haven’t seen a Dota 2 Major, nor The International take place in 2020. This weekend, we will finally see the first Dota 2 Major since the pandemic. While there will be no spectators, this will be a LAN event with all teams playing from Fairmont, Singapore.

We are, of course, talking about the Singapore Major, from One Esports and presented by PGL. Here’s everything Dota 2 esports fans need to know about the Dota 2 Singapore Major, including how to watch, the schedule, format and teams competing.

Dota 2 Singapore Major schedule & how to watch

The Dota 2 Singapore Major is scheduled to begin this Saturday, 27 March with the Wild Card stage. The tournament will end on 4 April 2021 with the Grand Finals. Each day, the action will kick off at 04:00 SAST.

The Singapore Major schedule:
  • Wild Card – 27 to 28 March 2021
  • Group Stage – 29 to 30 March 2021
  • Playoffs – 31 March to 4 April 2021

To catch all the action, you can tune into a 4K broadcast on One Esports’ YouTube channel once the Singapore Major begins. Alternatively, you can watch the 1080p stream on either Twitch.tv or Facebook.

Dota 2 Singapore Major teams and format

A total of 18 teams will compete at the Dota 2 Singapore Major. However, not all teams will even make it to the group stage, as the Wild Card stage will see only two of the six teams in this section advance.

Due to the DPC rankings, teams have been thrown into three categories: Those who have already qualified for the playoffs, those who have qualified for the group stage, and those who have qualified for the Wild Card. The playoffs will, of course, feature a double-elimination bracket format, with all matches being best-of-three, with the exception of the best-of-five grand finals.

Check out all the Dota 2 esports teams who have qualified for the Singapore Major below, including where they stand in the first Major of 2021.

Playoffs teams:
  • Team Secret
  • Invictus Gaming
  • Fnatic
  • beastcoast
  • Evil Geniuses
  • Virtus.pro
Group Stage teams:
  • Natus Vincere
  • Alliance
  • Team Aster
  • Quincy Crew
  • Neon Esports
  • Thunder Predator
Wild Card teams:
  • PSG.LGD
  • Vici Gaming
  • Team Liquid
  • AS Monaco Gambit

We are extremely excited to see the first Dota 2 Major kick off this weekend. It will surely be a tournament no Dota 2 esports fans should miss out on.
