ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 announced
Developer Valve recently announced some huge news for Dota 2 esports fans. Following The International 2023, there will no longer be a Dota Pro Circuit. Don’t worry, as tournament organizers such as ESL are here to bring us all the action we could want! Just after Valve’s announcement, ESL announced the ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 event, the first S-Tier tournament following The International 2023.
ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 first details
The ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 tournament is scheduled to run from 11 to 17 December 2023, so mark those calendars. 12 teams will compete for their share of the $1 million prize pool at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre.
Shane Clarke of ESL explains:
“We know Dota fans across South-East Asia have been eagerly waiting for the return of ESL One for over a year now. This December, we’re bringing back ESL One, bigger & more accessible than ever before, as we move the tournament from Genting to Kuala Lumpur for the first time. We’re ready to put on a world-class tournament at MITEC, and look forward to return to the region soon with more incredible live Dota 2 action and experiences.”
The group stage of ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 tournament features two groups of six (6) teams each. All matches are BO2 with a single round-robin format. The top two teams advance to the upper bracket of the ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 playoffs, while the 3rd and 4th place teams advance to the lower bracket. The bottom two teams are eliminated.
The final eight teams will compete in the ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 playoffs following the group stage. This stage follows a double-elimination bracket format, with all matches being best-of-three, except for the grand final, which is best-of-five.
