New Deadlock hero Violet: Weapon & Abilities
The Deadlock community has voted, and another new hero entered The Cursed Apple. In case you didn’t know, as part of the massive City Never Sleeps update, Valve is doing a staggered release of the update’s six heroes, based on votes from the community in-game.
The newest addition is Violet, the toxic botanist turning the concrete battlegrounds of Deadlock into an overgrown nightmare of poisonous spores and predatory flora. Before we get to the ability details and weapon stats, let’s first check out a lore description to get the blood flowing:
“Most folks in the city see flowers as a luxury or a sign of affection, but to Violet, botany is a method of execution. Growing up among the subterranean hothouses of the underground, she learned to coax life out of the foulest, most caustic reagents she could find. In the heat of battle, Violet unleashes creeping tendrils and blooming belladonna that choke out entire avenues, suffocating enemies under a canopy of virulent pollen. Gangs across Manhattan know it’s best not to step on her roots—because once her garden takes hold of your feet, you become fertilizer for the next bloom.”
Now, let’s dive into the details, starting with Violet’s weapon in Deadlock.
Violet’s Weapon In Deadlock
One of the most peculiar firearms in Deadlock thus far has to be Violet’s Bloom Cannon. It is a modified pesticide injector that fires pressurized thorny darts!
Bloom Cannon is automatic and medium-to-long range, dealing 26 damage per shot with high fire rate. The fall-off range sits between 16 and 40 meters, making it exceptionally reliable for shredding targets caught in her overgrown zones.
Deadlock Violet Abilities Explained
Check out the list of abilities and ultimate for Violet in Deadlock outlined below, with official descriptions.
- Noxious Bramble – Fling out a cluster of barbed roots that cling to the first enemy or terrain hit, branching out to root nearby enemies and inflict spirit damage over time. While enemies remain caught in the brambles, Violet gains bonus movement speed toward them.
- Corrosive Spore – Release a volatile spore cloud along your crosshair that expands on impact. Enemies inside the haze have their bullet and spirit armor reduced, while allies passing through gain a temporary shield and increased health regeneration.
- Petal Drift – Burst into a swirl of razor-sharp violet leaves, granting a sudden dash forward and brief intangibility.
- Light Melee: Perform an outward petal whip that disorients and silences enemies briefly.
- Heavy Melee: Slam into the ground, scattering thorny petals that knock enemies up and deal burst spirit damage.
- Nightshade Canopy (Ultimate) – Plant an ancient carnivorous flower at a target location that rapidly grows to dominate the area. The canopy continuously exhales toxic mist, heavily slowing enemy turn rates and movement, and dealing escalating spirit damage. After a brief channel, the bloom snaps shut on all targets within the center radius, dealing massive spirit damage and temporarily blinding any survivors.
