IEM Rio Major 2022 results and highlights
It has been a wild ride for CS:GO esports fans and teams in Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro with the IEM Rio Major 2022. We saw some insane upsets and brilliant plays in the first Major held in South America.
From the Challengers stage to the Legends stage, and then finally the Champions stage, early exits, such as Major defender FaZe not winning a single match, rocked the CS:GO esports world. As the dust settles over Rio de Janeiro, we take a look at what went down during the Champions stage.
IEM Rio Major Results & Highlights
Heading into the playoffs, there were two favourites; Cloud9 and Na’Vi. However, MOUZ overcame Cloud9 in the first upset of IEM Rio Major 2022’s Champions stage with a 2-1 win.

Outsiders made quick work of Fnatic, and Heroic smacked down Team Spirit, as both teams progressed with 2-0 wins. In front of their home crowd, Brazillian team FURIA Esports managed to reverse-sweep Na’Vi in a dramatic match to progress to the semifinals.
In the semifinals, we saw Outsiders defeat MOUZ 2-1, and Heroic put an end to FURIA’s dream run in front of the Brazillian crowd in a dramatic reverse sweep.
In the grand finals of IEM Rio Major 2022, Outsiders could not be denied. They beat Danish powerhouse Heroic 16-12 on Mirage and decimated them on Overpass with a 16-5 scoreline to win IEM Rio Major 2022 with a 2-0 in the grand final.
A big congratulations go out to Outsiders for winning the IEM Rio Major 2022 with an impressive run. Outsiders lift the trophy and get $500,000, alongside invites to IEM Katowice 2023 and the BLAST Premier Fall Final. For their valiant efforts, Heroic gets $170,000
