Valve releases huge CS2 Spring Forward update
This week, on 1 April 2025, Valve unleashed an absolutely massive Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) update called “Spring Forward,” and it isn’t an April Fool’s joke (I checked). Here’s what you need to know about the Spring Forward update so you can jump into the game right now and enjoy the shiny new skins.
CS2 Spring Forward highlights
Via a dedicated blog post, Valve introduced the Spring Forward update. One of the biggest highlights is three new weapon collections (more than 70 finishes total) for the Weekly Care Package drop list. These include the Ascent, Boreal, and Radiant collections, which feature a wide range of styles. There’s a little something for everyone…trust me!
Alongside the new weapon collections comes the Fever Case, featuring 17 weapon finishes from community contributors and Shattered Web knives in Chroma finishes. Then, there’s also the Armory Pass additions, including a Limited Edition XM1014 | Solitude and the Train 2025 Collection.

For the competitive player, Valve has made some big changes to two Active Duty maps, namely Inferno and Train, alongside a host of fixes. Yes, there are even some changes to the iconic Banana callout on Inferno. Check out the changes and fixes below.
Inferno changes & fixes:
- Adjusted Banana to more closely match the size of the CS:GO version
- Simplified background behind T ramp
- Simplified view into Pit
- Simplified background of Bombsite B
- Removed step on sides of Arch hallway
- Removed pixel gap at Coffin
- Adjusted crates on steps up to balcony so players step up reliably
- Adjusted or removed props throughout map
- Adjusted Player and Grenade collision throughout map
Train changes & fixes:
- Fixed a bug where player shadows would render through windows above A main
- Fixed some holes in the world
- Simplified back wall by door to Z
- Simplified background by upper B entrance
- Shortened overhead roof rail in A site, to make it easier to throw utility into site
- Replaced see-through grating on catwalk outside of Z door
- Replaced see-through fences at top if Ivy with solid version
- Simplified brick wall by Ivy
- Fixed grenade collision on upper B arch
Well done, Valve, well done! That’s a nice host of changes, alongside a bunch of content. I’m quite excited to see what I get from the Train 2025 Collection, although the Armory Pass does cost just over R300. Is it worth it? Probably!
