Team Vitality wins Grand Slam Season 5
It’s happened! After more than a year of top-tier Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) esports events, Team Vitality has won the ESL Grand Slam Season 5, previously known as the Intel Grand Slam. That’s right, in front of a live, roaring crowd at IEM Melbourne 2025, Team Vitality lifted the trophy and completed their Grand Slam journey.
To claim the ESL Grand Slam Season 5 prize, Team Vitality won IEM Cologne 2024, IEM Katowice 2025, ESL Pro League Season 21, and IEM Melbourne 2025. The rule is that a team must win four of the past 10 ESL CS2 events, including at least one Championship-level tournament.
In case you didn’t know, the Grand Slam prize per season is a massive $1 million. At the current Dollar to Rand exchange rate, that’s roughly R18.6 million. That’s on top of the $250,000 first-place prize they won on 27 April 2025 at IEM Melbourne 2025. Nice!
Congratulations to Team Vitality for winning the ESL Grand Slam Season 5 in dominating fashion. This makes the squad the 5th team in history to win a Grand Slam. We can’t help but wonder if any squad will be able to deny them a victory at the BLAST.tv Austin Major, and if so, who could it possibly be?
Stay tuned to Esports Central, as we’ll have a highlights video and report to share for IEM Melbourne 2025 a bit later this week. We continue to bring you great coverage of local and international esports events throughout 2025 and beyond, so don’t miss out!
