We were treated to some fantastic Counter-Strike 2 esports action thanks to IEM Chengdu 2024, hosted by ESL in China, with 16 teams competing for their share of the $250,000 prize pool. Here’s what went down with our battle report and highlights video from the grand finals.

In the Group Stage, we saw some surprisingly early exits from Cloud9 and HEROIC. MOUZ, Team Liquid, and G2 Esports made it through Group A, while Astralis, Virtus.pro, and FaZe Clan made it through Group B. In the single-elimination bracket playoffs, G2 Esports smacked down Virtus.pro with a 2-0 before losing 2-1 to MOUZ, with MOUZ making it to the grand final. On the other side of the bracket, FaZe Clan beat Team Liquid 2-1 and Astralis 2-1 to earn a spot in the grand final of IEM Chengdu 2024.

In the grand final, FaZe Clan turned up the heat, beating MOUZ 13-10 on Overpass. Despite MOUZ’s best effort, FaZe Clan could not be denied a trophy, as they finished off the grand final with a convincing 13-6 win on Nuke for a 2-0 victory.

Final standings:
  • 1st place – FaZe Clan wins $100,000.
  • 2nd place – MOUZ wins $42,000.
  • 3rd & 4th place – Astralis and G2 Esports win $20,000 each.
  • 5th & 6th place – Virtus.pro and Team Liquid win $10,000 each.
  • 7th & 8th place – FlyQuest and Heroic win $6,000 each.
  • 9th to 12th place – Lynn Vision Gaming, Nemiga Gaming, FURIA Esports, and Cloud9 win $5,000 each.
  • 13th to 16th place – Steel Helmet, TYLOO, 9z Team, and Wildcard Gaming win $4,000 each.

Congratulations to FaZe Clan for winning IEM Chengdu 2024, breaking their second-place streak and earning a first-place prize of $100,000 for their efforts.
