FMPONE finally releases the Cache remake
Since it’s first tease back in February 2024 (more than a year ago!), I’ve been waiting not-so-patiently for the release of the Cache remake in Counter-Strike 2 (CS2). I am not excited to report to those who don’t know yet that the Cache remake from map creator Shawn “FMPONE” Snelling is out now on the CS2 Steam Workshop.
Play the Cache remake today
The Cache remake, according to reports, features mostly visual overhauls from the 2019 version of Cache, which featured in CS:GO. If you are as old as I am, you might remember that the Chernobyl-inspired virtual battlefield was part of the actual esports map pool, aka the Active Duty Map Pool from 2014 to 2019.
The original Cache was replaced by Vertigo, and there’s no telling when or even if the map will actual make it to the Active Duty Map Pool in CS2’s future. For now, I’m just super glad I can finally play the Cache remake, and share it with all of you. That reminds me, simply head on over to the Cache remake Steam Workshop page and download it to start playing right now.
Check out a short little description that Shawn “FMPONE” Snelling posted for those that are unsure what Cache is below.
“A bomb defusal map set around Chernobyl. Terrorists are bent on destroying the evidence of a massive weapons-cache in the shadows of Chernobyl.”
The remake of this iconic map looks incredible, and I can kinda see why it took over a year to release. With that in mind, check out a flythrough of the Cache remake from tournament organizer ESL below.
What are you waiting for, go ahead and enjoy the awesome remake of Cache in CS2 right now. Tell your friends, and compete in what is sure to be one of the game’s most popular maps for the foreseeable future!
