Complexity wins ESL Challenger Jönköping 2024
Any South African Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) esports fan probably knows that the Complexity Gaming roster features South African in-game leader (IGL) Johnny “JT” Theodosiou and South African coach Tiaan “T.c” Coertzen. What you might not know is that the American organization hasn’t won a tournament on LAN since 2010, when it had a roster filled with Brazillian players.
Well, that has now changed, as Complexity Gaming, with the two South Africans, has won a LAN trophy in the form of ESL Challenger Jönköping at DreamHack Summer 2024! Here’s what went down.
ESL Challenger Jönköping results
At the Elmia Congress & Concert Hall in Jönköping, Sweden, eight teams competed from 14 to 16 June for their share of the $100,000 prize pool.
Complexity almost dropped out early, having to reverse sweep MIBR in the deciding match of Group B to stay in the competition and qualify for the playoffs. From there, Complexity Gaming bounced back on LAN, beating Aurora Gaming 2-1 in the semifinal and winning the Grand Final by taking care of Team Falcons with a convincing 2-0.
