PUBG Global Championship 2022 announcement & hype
PUBG is already a well-known title, starting in March 2017 and taking off like a missile propelled by jet fuel.
This game got popular quite quickly, and in December 2017, PUBG had its first tournament, the Gamescom PUBG Invitational, where Luminosity Gaming took home the trophy and $80 000 (R1,448,436).
Since the success of PUBG, they introduced PUBG mobile, which held its first major international tournament in 2018, the PUBG Mobile Star Challenge.
Tencent Games and PUBG Corporation organized this grand event, with 20 teams from six regions competing for a share of the $600,000 USD prize pool in Dubai and the trophy and $200 000 went to PRQ Athena.
As the game has kept growing since its launch, more players have joined the fight on their mobile devices, and we’ve witnessed substantial growth in the player base to an average of 30 million active daily players.
When you look at these numbers, it should be no surprise that we can expect from 1 November 2022 through 20 November 2022 to see the first premier esports tournament for this title, the PUBG Global Championship 2022, organised by PUBG corporation, for a prize pool worth a total of $2 million (R36,174,400).
You should be able to see your favourite teams from previous PUBG seasons battle it out for the number 1 place out of 32 teams.
If you’re keen to travel, get yourself a ticket to Dubai, where the event will be hosted at the Dubai Exhibition Centre in the United Arab Emirates, where teams will be competing in person against one another in an optimal LAN environment.
