Doritos Crunch Cup Series at Comic Con Africa 2023
If you plan to attend Comic Con Africa Cape Town 2023 (CCACT) from 27 to 30 April, then you are in for a treat with the next Doritos Crunch Cup Series, featuring combined prizes of R40,000 to compete for in various esports tournaments each day of the event. Here’s what you need to know.
Doritos Crunch Cup Series at CCACT
Thanks to the “coolest snack brand in South Africa,” you have four days of esports action to look forward to. These are all free-to-play tournaments with up to R10,000 up for grabs each day of Comic Con Africa Cape Town 2023.
To join in, you need to head to the Doritos Crunch Zone on Level 2 of the Cape Town International Convention Centre from 09:00 to 11:00 each day. Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis. All tournaments are 1v1 with a single-elimination format, played on Xbox consoles.
The schedule and titles:
- Thursday, 27 April 2023 – Fortnite
- Friday, 28 April 2023 – Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II
- Saturday, 29 April 2023 – Tekken 7
- Sunday, 30 April 2023 – FIFA23
Each of these tournaments has prize pools of R7,000. Furthermore, there will be a “beat the pro” event from 14:00 to 15:00 each day, featuring daily title-specific local pro players. If you manage to get a win against these pros, you will get R1,000 in cash.
Ntumi Kondile, Doritos Brand Manager, via a Press Release we’ve received, states: “We are thrilled to be hosting the Crunch Cup in Cape Town for the very first time. Doritos exists to ignite bold self-expression, and we’re challenging all gamers in the Mother City to bring their boldest selves to Comic Con Cape Town and compete in the Crunch Cup tournament. As part of the event, we will also have BOLD and exciting Doritos activations lined up for all attendees. This is one event is definitely not to be missed.”
