ATK Fortnite Kill Race this Friday with cash prizes
South African esports organization and tournament organizer, ATK Arena, is hosting a Fortnite Kill Race event at their headquarters in Cape Town. If you happen to be in the Mother City or the surrounding area, here are all the essential details you need to know.
ATK Fortnite Kill Race details
The ATK Fortnite Kill Race takes place on Friday, 16 December. It is, of course, a public holiday in South Africa, the Day of Reconciliation.
The event takes place from 11:00 to 15:00 at ATK Arena’s venue in Cape Town. You can sign up via the event’s Quicket page. There are 34 spots, an the Quicket page mentions that “the first 34 to register at the door may participate.”
The Fortnite event at ATK Arena features three rounds of the kill race. It is 1 hour per round, with an R80 buy-in per round. ATK Arena explains: “Half of every round ticket goes into the Pot. After every round, the Pot is split between the top 3 players. 1st: 50% of Pot, 2nd: 30% of Pot, 3rd 20% of Pot. This means that the 1st place could walk away with around R700 per round.”
All this boils down to the fact that there will be up to R1,500 in cash up for grabs per hour, for three hours. Signup is actually at 10:00 “until 34 players are present.” At this time, players can book a seat and customize their settings, get comfortable etc. At 10:40, the rules and scoring system will be explained.

- 3rd Game 2PM
The winner of the first round cannot compete in the round immediately thereafter to provide a chance for others to win. ATK notes that while there are controllers available to hire, the numbers are limited, so you can bring your own controllers if needed. There are generators, so there is no need to worry too much about loadshedding.
