Your guide to Street Fighter 6 at EWC 2026
Fighting game community, rejoice! The Street Fighter 6 tournament at the Esports World Cup (EWC) 2026 mega-event in Paris, France, is about to begin. To be specific, the tournament runs from this Wednesday, 29 July, until Saturday, 1 August 2026, so mark those calendars!
The world’s best 32 players are fighting for their share of the $1 million prize pool, which is roughly R17 million at the current exchange rate. Not only does the winner get $250,000 in prize money and earn 1,000 Club Championship points for their organization, but they also earn a spot at Capcom Cup 13.
Four groups of eight players each, with a double-elimination bracket where all matches are Ft3, is the format for the First Phase. The top four players per group advance to Stage 2, while the rest are eliminated.
In the Second Phase, the format is the same, with two groups of eight players each fighting in double-elimination brackets in Ft3 matches, where the top four players per group move on to the Playoffs Stage, and the rest are eliminated. In the Playoffs Stage, all matches are Ft5, and the format is a no-nonsense single-elimination bracket.
Last year, we saw Zeng “Xiao Hai” Zhuojun defeat Derek Blaz in a thrilling Grand Final, and we can’t wait to see what happens this year, with both these players starting their journey in Group DD.
