Overwatch at EWC 2026 viewer’s guide

Overwatch esports fans are in for a treat at the Esports World Cup (EWC) 2026 mega-event taking place in Paris, France. Yes, we are on the edge of our seats for the Overwatch Champions Series (OWS) 2026 Midseason Championship to kick off this Wednesday at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, STC Arena venue.

There are 16 teams competing for their share of the $1 million prize pool, which is roughly R17 million at the current exchange rate. The event takes place from 29 July to 2 August 2026, offering non-stop action for fans to consume.

First up, the Group Stage runs from 29 to 31 July, using a two eight-team double-elimination bracket (GSL-style) format, where all matches are Ft2. The top four teams from each group advance to the Playoffs Stage. In the Playoffs stage (1 to 2 August), the format is a single-elimination bracket, where all matches are Ft3, except for the Grand Finals, which are Ft4.
