Your complete guide to the LoL event at EWC 2026
The Esports World Cup (EWC) 2026 mega-event taking place in Paris, France, is in full swing, with some events already finishing up and others about to get underway. This week, we are definitely looking forward to the League of Legends (LoL) tournament, following the thrilling conclusion of MSI 2026 on 12 July.
Mark those calendars, as the LoL event at EWC 2026 will take place from 15 to 19 July, offering five days of non-stop action on Summoner’s Rift. A total of 16 of the best teams in the world are competing for their share of the $2 million prize pool. That’s roughly R33 million at the current exchange rate.
The action begins with a Group Stage, featuring four groups of four teams each, and a double-elimination (GSL-style) format. Most matches are BO1, except for elimination matches, which are BO3. The top two teams from each group advance to the Playoffs Stage.
In the Playoffs Stage, the eight remaining teams will compete in a no-nonsense single-elimination bracket, with all matches BO3 except the Grand Final, which is BO5.
